Press Release  IRON MOUNTAIN FILES FOR IMPROVED TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES

TELINET DELIVERS COLLABORATIVE EUROPEAN-WIDE IP TELEPHONY SOLUTION TO STORAGE SPECALIST

Telinet, a converged IT and telecommunications specialist, today announced that it has completed the installation of an IP telephony solution, with Iron Mountain, the global leader in information protection and storage services. The converged solution, which will deliver savings of up to £80,000 per annum, has been implemented across Iron Mountain’s European sites and is designed to encourage greater collaboration across the business, improve customer service and ensure business continuity.

Iron Mountain helps organisations to reduce the costs and risks associated with records management, data protection and information destruction. The company, which has grown through a series of acquisitions, conducts the majority of its 24/7 operations and customer services via telephony, and therefore a resilient and feature-rich telephony platform is essential to business continuity. The new telephony system is integrated with desktop applications and a central directory, enabling employees to share contacts and have access to key data when visiting other offices.

Specifically, the solution will provide Iron Mountain with the capabilities to internally host and manage conference calls, which will significantly reduce travel expenses.

Mark Smith, Head of European Purchasing at Iron Mountain, says; "The immediacy of voice communications means our customers can request data at anytime and are assured that their request is being executed. However, following a series of acquisitions, each of our offices were operating disparate systems, many of which were nearing end-of life, had little functionality and were difficult for the IT team to manage remotely. We needed a robust solution that could be centrally managed and that would support greater collaboration between employees and customers.

"Telinet has provided us with access to a variety of new applications and functions that were lacking from our previous system, for instance, the presence application allows employees to initiate, receive and conduct communications, when, where and via the most appropriate device. This ensures always-on communications for our customers. Furthermore, now we are operating from a single platform, we can flex and scale telephony according to each office’s specific needs and accommodate future business growth."

The solution also incorporates near real time logging of call details, recording of critical customer calls, as well as, automated switch-over in case of failure, delivering performance and disaster recovery assurances. Additional applications include call-routing, ensuring customers are always able to reach someone from their account team or the relevant expertise; and softphone capabilities means that staff are also able to make calls from their laptops, helping to increase mobility and reduce call costs.

Paul Cosgrave, CEO of Telinet, concludes, "The contract with Iron Mountain demonstrates that telephony remains a key business application. Implementing a robust and standardised IP solution that can be built in line with the specific needs of each site makes it far easier to meet Iron Mountain’s businesses development strategy and deliver fast, accurate and timely information in response to customer demand."
